Tauranga Activities and Attractions

At the heart of Tauranga (one of New Zealand’s most desirable lifestyle cities) is our City Centre and waterfront. Every entertainment, shopping and culinary experience you would expect of a modern city is here.

Fabulous cafes, restaurants and bars line the waterfront and the inner-city streets, where international cuisine, succulent Pacific-Rim choices, fabulous coffee and an awesome atmosphere awaits. Join in the fun and frivolity at bars and nightclubs during the evenings for live music, drinks and dancing or tuck yourself away in a quiet restaurant and savour the flavours.

If shopping is your pleasure, you’ll find no shortage of excellent retail outlets to browse through – whatever you’re looking for, Tauranga City will likely have a store that stocks it! Tauranga also has a thriving ‘creative’ community and there are a great number of galleries, art markets and boutique stores where you can enjoy the quality art and crafts that we produce.

Every Easter, the main city roads in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are closed off to vehicles as the annual Jazz festival trumpets into town. This 4-day long festival draws thousands to dance, drink and enjoy the sounds of live jazz bands performing.

Waimarino Adventure Park is a tranquil paradise situated on the banks of the Wairoa River just 10 minutes from Tauranga city. The Park provides the perfect day out for the entire family. Bring your togs, barbeque supplies or picnic and make a day of it with friends and family.

Perhaps most iconic is Mount Maunganui, Mauao, which rises 232 meters from the sea. The walking tracks to the top of this extinct volcano provide 360 degree views which span the entire length of the Bay of Plenty.
