As blessed as the Tauranga area is with oceans and harbours, we also boast many rivers and lakes to explore.

McClarens Falls Park, just a fifteen minute drive from Cameron Thermal Motel, is a gorgeous spot to spend an afternoon. McClarens Falls offers many large fresh-water swimming holes surrounded by giant boulders to sun yourself on. There are many picnic and bbq areas in the park, and the lake beckons you to kayak, swim or just enjoy the scenery.

River-Rafting also happens here in-season, and the experience is a white-knuckle adventure you'll never forget.

The Wairoa River (another fifteen minute drive from Cameron Thermal Motel) is a far more languid waterway - and the best place to enjoy all that the Wairoa River has to offer is at Waimarino. This adventure park, set right on the banks of the river, has something for all the family to enjoy. Explore the river on a kayak, canoe or paddle-boat, soak in the heated pools, tackle the climbing walls, and enjoy the flying fox, kayak-slide and diving boards. The team at Waimarino also operate guided river tours and a glow-worm tour.
